Through his first gourmand fragrance – the eighteenth in the collection – Meo Fusciuni reinterprets the coexistence, in life, of sweet and bitter notes: the former associated with unforgettable moments, the latter linked to the need to immerse oneself in another world in order to move beyond, to rediscover serenity and a smile, as when a love affair ends. A fragment of his story that once again takes the form of a pure, carefully crafted olfactory narrative.

At the heart of it all lies the end of a relationship, the daze, the pain. The need to take refuge in something comforting to soften the blow and avoid the trap of its downward spirals whilst trying to rediscover the light, to heal.

“In this fragrance” says Meo himself, “I wanted to capture the sweet sensation of love and the deep pang in the heart that comes with the end of a relationship. Everything is transformed, as in an alchemical journey. Here, gold is cocoa, my philosopher’s stone. I return to writing about emotions from my past, which today feels like another life. This time, a love story that comes to an end, an event that deeply affected that moment in my life and this fragrance. My inner self is sitting there, eating a chocolate cake, gaze lost in the void, lights and shadows of the same world; time passes and that cake takes on the form of my saviour – everything will pass, even this love. Bite after bite, the palate becomes a place of healing, where the note of cocoa envelops the pain.”

Enveloping, sensual and elegant, the composition of Amara Vita exudes an irresistible allure. Cocoa unfolds in all its nuances, from the opening where it blends with the warm, fruity notes of raspberry and candied orange, right through to the heart, where it meets the powdery notes of iris and the creaminess of sandalwood and tonka bean. The base notes leave a bitter yet elegant impression – nostalgic yet joyful – evoking the serenity of bitterness.
